構築中のSqueak.orgの新サイト（ベータ版公開中）の
http://box1.squeakfoundation.org:7777/about/ の "Squeak Support"には

Official standards and product support are the enemies of change.
Next to universal access, malleability is the prime figure of merit for Squeak.
It is our intention for Squeak to evolve.

という刺激的な表現の記述があります（それがコミュニティの総意かという疑問はありますが）。また、Squeakの精神として制約を取り除くことの重要性を述べた書き物もどこかで読みました。今までわかっていたつもりでしたが、頭だけでした。メモを読み、Tweakが持ち込んだ変更の目的をおぼろげに理解するにつれ、これらの意味がだんだんつながって、腹にすとんと落ちたような気がしました。
